MEETING THE DEMAND

The Challenge

As new urban districts develop in cities worldwide, there is a growing need to improve local opportunities for physical activity and accessible outdoor fitness infrastructure. In Helsinki’s Kruunuvuorenranta, a new waterfront residential neighbourhood on a former industrial harbour site, outdoor gyms and activity facilities were planned to meet this demand.

The Solution

To help residents maintain an active lifestyle close to home, modern Omnigym outdoor gym equipment was integrated as a part of the new Kruunuvuorenranta sports park and placed directly next to residential buildings, making the facilities accessible and inviting. The outdoor gym is set in a green urban environment, further away from the kids’ activity area, supporting year-round physical activity, community wellbeing, and active urban living. This solution also serves as a model for cities worldwide, demonstrating how outdoor training infrastructure can be effectively incorporated close to people’s homes.
