When more adults and families spend time outdoors exercising, it creates a safer environment for children to play and move freely. "Many tenants have thanked us for providing these outdoor gyms," says Virena Lyckegård, head of security at Familjebostäder. "When more trusted adults are outside, parents feel more comfortable letting their children go out and play football or basketball."
Engagement and Collaboration – Key to Success
Familjebostäder has actively worked to engage the local community and collaborate with various organizations, such as Hälsoteket, to maximize the benefits of the new outdoor gyms. During the summer, free exercise classes were held, attracting many residents to participate and get more active. "This initiative is fantastic, especially in these areas where access to wellness activities is not always a given," says Charles from Hälsoteket.

Squats: Squats train multiple muscle groups simultaneously, primarily in the lower body.
Core Rack: Core Rack combines abdominal bench, dips, and back lifts for a solid core and upper body workout.
Standing Row: Standing row focuses on training the back muscles, including the mid-back, as well as arms, shoulders, and chest.
Lat Pulldown: Lat pulldown is an exercise that focuses on training the latissimus dorsi muscles (broad back muscles).
Bench Press: Bench press is an exercise that trains the chest muscles, triceps, and shoulders.
